does the writing department formally ask for a specific illustration to go with their dumb article or do the artists just smoke some ganja and come up with their own zany stuff?.

To be fair, you do make a few good points, Steve. However:
You do sound very much like a JW who is protesting about people with differing views trying to take over the discussion.
That wasn't my point at all. The question was asked "What is the easiest way to explain the gospel?" I was pointing out that immediately the thread was changed into another believer v non believer thread.
I talk with people of differing views all the time, and I am CONSTANTLY reshaping my views. I just felt that this was an honest question that was looking for an honest answer on how to explain the gospel. But it was changed into something like, "Why ask? It's false anyway." If I read that wrong, I apologize.
I wasn't try to keep a thread PURE. I was trying to keep a thread on topic.

just finished our 2 day and one of the talks by the do indicated that single sisters in the congregation are to be subservient to all male brothers in the hall..as well a widow too is of the same "status".

personally, i dont think that is good - after all there are many elders who although, supposedly appointed by hs, can be personally involved with porn behind closed doors or nasty with his wife and family.. i personally know of two like that .... why should i listen to a "stranger" about my life?

I'm sure most of the "real" atheists will agree that I am very tolerant regarding discussion of other views. I contribute to almost all of them. The OP was asking what the gospel says. But you did not wish to talk about that. You wanted to talk about how they are false. I didn't even state my belief but stated what the gospel message is.
One of the biggest complaints that I've heard from other posters about JWN is that atheists try to take over all threads that have a shred of belief in them. It happens almost every single time.
But it is funny that the ones that are so against judgmentalism are the ones that practice it the most. I didn't judge YOU personally by saying that the thread was being derailed yet again.
You tell me to go find another forum? Who said that this was an atheist forum? You can't just claim it as your own and say that believers should go elsewhere.

Occasionally multiple versions of the same artwork will be produced, and they will be decided upon by the writing department. Usually multiple versions are produced for use in various countries. Asian countries will generally feature predominantly asian people in the photographs. African counties, African people. Etc...

I am a former bethelite and had a roommate that used to work in the art department. Basically the writing department tells the art department what photographs and artwork they need produced. The art department overseers have a small bit of creative license in production. The writing department will submit something like "insert photo that shows 2 men preaching in an urban neighborhood". If the artwork needs to be based on something biblical, the writing deaprtment will give the art department a list of scriptures that describe the scene so that it will be "accurate".
I can't seem to find it now, but there used to be a video on youtube that was a talk from one of the writing department overseers. His name is David Ianelli (last name may be spelled differently). It discussed how the articles are produced. He makes an interesting admission that the "Questions from Readers" do not come from outside readers. He says that the GB are also readers of the WT and Awake and so it is THEY that submit the "Questions".

Actually, that turned me off just a bit too, Zid. I don't necessarily like the biographical portions of the book. Although it makes it more readable than if it was merely a scientific textbook.
